The photogenic port city of Essaouira, Morocco

*WS37 - the photogenic port city of Essaouira, Morocco*

Essaouira is a small old seaport in west Morocco. The present city was built in the 18th century, the name "Es-Saouira" means "the beautifully designed". The medina is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an example of a late 18th-century fortified town, as transferred to north Africa by European colonists.

It is a photogenic city, first showing the palm-lined main avenue, Oqba Ibn Nafiaa, and the main gate,  Bab El Menzeh.

Next the bastion and the boats, the delightfully decorated window of our hotel room converted from an old mansion and lastly, 2 shots of a beautiful setting of geometry, shape and colour at a restaurant on a sunny day.

We did have a feast of spider crabs and sardines for dinner at the seafront.
