这期介绍中国最低盆地的一个景点。中国最低的盆地是新疆吐鲁番盆地，在天山山脉南面，最低处的高度是(负)154米。我们这期的景点--火焰山就在这里。

火焰山并不是一座山，而是一个山脉，长约一百公里，宽五到十公里，平均高度五百米。火焰山是中国最热的地方，夏天可达摄氏50度。每当红日当空，赤褐色的山体在烈日照射下，砂岩灼灼闪光，热流翻滚上升，就像烈焰撩天，故名火焰山。

我们2017年5月第二次游火焰山。这次是体验火焰山的热，一群团友爬火焰山的一个峰，梯级一千四百，高度约三百九十米。当天的温度最高是摄氏37度，又热又干燥，汗水蒸发特快，我个人喝了整三公升的水。上下两个小时半。

The lowest place in China is the Turpan Basin in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, the lowest point at minus 154 m. Located in the basin is the Flaming Mountain, a mountain range about 100 km long, 5 to 10 km wide, with an average height of 500 m. It is the hottest place in China, reaching 50 degrees Celsius in summer. Irradiated by the scorching sun, the red sandstone appear to flash like flames.

We visited Flaming Mountain for the 2nd time in May 2017. This time we had the real experience of the flaming heat by climbing over 1,400 steps to scale a peak about 390 m in height in late morning. Hot and dry. I had to take 3 liters of water within the 2+ hours there to replace the fluid lost to fast evaporation. Even that I was slightly dehydrated.
