The buildings in the island of Santorini, Greece

*WS33 - The buildings in the island of Santorini, Greece*

Santorini is a small island in the Aegean Sea, some 200 km south of Greece's mainland. It is the remnant of a volcanic caldera, shaped like a mature crescent with steep slopes. And on the ridge of the steep slopes are built simple low buildings, usually painted  white or some pastel colours.

So you have a very unique scenery: steep slopes, low white buildings, blue sky above and blue sea below.

Such photogenic scenery continues to be featured in photography magazines. It is a photographer's dream destination. In fact the island has been voted as one of the top islands to visit in many travel magazines and websites. Every year.

There are many small church-like buildings with blue domes on the ridge. Some are just "shell" buildings to enhance the settings, not a real church.

Shown some photos of beautiful settings from the photographers' perspective. The last photo shows a white hotel logo against the blue sea.

We were here in 2012.
